K-12 Programming
In order to promote a better understanding of Indian art and culture, we
conduct fun and educational assemblies, workshops, lectures, and
demonstrations for K-12 in schools.
Taalim’s in-school programs use Indian music and/or dance specifically
catered to the curriculum and age group. Our K-12 programs address the
need for culturally specific arts programming within a school environment
and offers reinforcement of the core curriculum.

Cultural Understanding
" Our students thoroughly enjoyed learning about the tablas and Indian rhythms. The presenters were wonderful with the children and helped them realize that Indian drumming is accessible to every person, regardless of cultural knowledge and background. The interaction during the assembly was not only fun, but also educational for our students. "

While Taalim’s artists are multi – faceted artists, who can understand and speak the language of other music and dance forms, including western classical music. Our expertise is North Indian classical music (rhythm and melody) and the dance form of Kathak. The depth of our artists’ understanding of different music traditions makes it easier and more effective to communicate the applications and nuances of Indian music and dance to those unfamiliar with it.
The workshops, masterclasses, and residencies are customized to the needs of the university / college. Duration of activities can range from 1.5 hours to several days. Intended audiences include, but not limited to, university percussion ensembles and other musical groups, as well as for classes and student clubs with no drumming or musical experience.
